Gaël Domenger studied dance at the Paris Opera Ballet School and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris. He danced with the European Ballet, the Leipziger Ballet and the Opéra Royal de Wallonie before starting as a dancer with Scapino in 1996. Here he performed in works by Voortman/De Jonge, Ed Wubbe, Leine & Roebana, Krisztina De Châtel and Nanine Linning.
Shortly after joining Scapino, Domenger began choreographing for the workshops. For ‘Made in Rotterdam’ he made Shunyata (1997) and Out of the Link (1999). He also made some choreographies at Korzo Producties. For TWOOLS 2 he made Like This in 2000, and in 2001 for TWOOLS 4 the creation So And So was released.
After his time at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Gaël Domenger left for Biarritz in France to work as a choreographer at Malandain Ballet Biarritz. In 2007 he became head of the Choreographic Research Laboratory. Domenger is also a dance teacher at the Ginasiano Escola de Dança in Portugal.
