Born in Santiago, Chile, Eduardo started his studies at 15 learning Ballroom dance as well as Musical theater and Jazz . After participating in a Television show, he found his way into Ballet entering the prestigious Escuela de Ballet del Teatro Municipal in Santiago. At the age of 16 he was invited on full scholarship to attend the Miami City Ballet summer program. After that he entered Houston Ballet Academy for three years where he got to perform many classical and contemporary roles, receiving the Peter Schaer Award. Some of Eduardo’s mentors are Claudio Munoz, Hugo Urrutia, Tamara Kiriak, Clara Cravey.
Dancer
Eduardo performed in various classical and contemporary companies in the US such as State Street Ballet, Texas Ballet Theater under the direction of O.B.E. Ben Stevenson, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Luna Negra Dance Theater. He moved to Chile in 2013 to join Ballet Nacional Chileno, and most recently over the past two years with Lucerne Tanz Theater in Switzerland. He has originated roles and performed in works by notable choreographers including Marcia Haydee, John Cranko, Ben Stevenson, Gustavo Ramirez Sansano, Fernando Melo, Idan Sharabi, Andonis Foniadakis among others.
Choreographer
Eduardo is the recipient of the Gold Medal at the XIII International Ballet Competition and Contest of Choreographers en Moscow, Russia. Silver Medal at IV Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition en China. Both in 2017. First Prize at Dance Chance Redux (Chicago) For FARO, and the winner of the Joyce Award in 2013.
He has choreographed works for Ballet Nacional Chileno, Lucerner Theater, Houston Ballet 2, State Street Ballet Hubbard Street INSIDEOUT workshops, Luna Negra Dance Theater , Elements Contemporary Dance (Chicago,USA), Ballet Arte Moderno, Plataforma MONO, Bolshoi Theater.
Eduardo is also an active choreographic assistance for Gustavo Ramirez Sansano’s works. Past works has been with The Juilliard School, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Tanz Munster, Tans Ulm, Theater Augsburg, and future works for Lucerner Theater to name a few.
