Laura Comi graduated from the Rome Opera House’s Ballet School with a classical high school diploma and a diploma with passo d’addio. After a tour in Germany and a period of specialisation with the London company ‘English National Ballet’, she joined the corps de ballet of the Rome Opera House, rising to the position of Prima Ballerina Etoile.
During her career, she has danced the major titles of the classical repertoire such as: “The Nutcracker”, “Giselle”, “Don Quixote”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Swan Lake”, “Romeo and Juliet”, “La Sylphide”, “Cinderella”, “Raymonda”, “La Fille Mal Gardée”, “Taming of the Shrew”, “E. Onegin”, “Spartacus”, “Pas de Quattre”, “La Péri”, “Petruska”.
She danced modern versions of the ballets “Cinderella” by L. Cannito, “Coppelia” by M. Bigonzetti, “Romeo and Juliet” and “Coppelia” by A. Amodio.
She performed productions in homage to G. Balanchine, dancing “The Four Temperaments” (Il Sanguigno), “Allegro Brillante”, “Who Cares?”, “Apollon Musagete (Tersicore); in homage to V. Nijinsky “Yeux”, and in homage to L. Massine “The American Girl” in “Parade”.
She also danced “Sei in movimento” by M.Bigonzetti; “Kachaturian pas de deux” by D.Allan; “Firebird” and “Carmina Burana” by G.Carbone; “Pipistrello” by R.Nunez; “Three Preludes” by B. Stevenson; “Estri” by A.Milloss; “Ricercare a nove movimenti” and “Per Alvin” by A.Amodio; “Arlesienne” and “Ma Pavlova” by R.Petit; “Pines of Rome” and “Blues and Fanfare” by R. North; “Vespri Siciliani” by H. Spoerli; “L’Art d’Aimer” by G. P.Aviotte; “Le Jarden Jeux d’Amour” by G.C. Maillot; “Orlando”, “Filumena Marturano” and “Gerusalemme” by L. Bouy; “Passasti al par d’amor” by L. Gay; “Girotondo Romano” and “Trilogia di Figaro” by L. Cannito.
In 1996 she was appointed Prima Ballerina at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and for this appointment she was awarded the ‘Leonide Massine’ prize for dance by Prof. Alberto Testa in Positano.
Since 2000, she has worked as a teacher at the Dance School of the Rome Opera House.
In 2001, she received the Gino Tani prize for her performance in ‘Romeo and Juliet’.
In 2002 she was invited by the Municipal Theatre of Florence for the summer season.
In 2003 she participated in the International Gala “Todi Music Fest” held in Norfolk, Virginia (U.S.A.).
Representing the Rome Opera House, she performed in Brazil (Porto Alegre – B.Gonsalves).
In 2004 she danced, on tour with the Rome Opera House company, “Swan Lake” in Piacenza at the Teatro Municipale and in Catania at the Teatro Massimo Bellini and “Petruska” at the Kremlin Theatre in Moscow.
In 2004, she was appointed Etoile of the Rome Opera House.
In 2004, 2005 and 2006, she took part in the comedy “Il canto del cigno” with actor Mario Scaccia.
In 2005, she danced “Petruska” in the ancient Roman Theatre of Aspendos (Turkey).
In the same year, she was awarded the ‘Marforio d’oro’ prize for dance by the ‘Romeo Collalti’ Cultural Association.
In 2006, she danced “Jeux” at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste.
In the same year she received the ‘Le ragioni della nuova politica’ award from the Cultural Association ‘L’Alba del Terzo Millennio’.
In 2007, she made her debut in the world premiere of “Alcyone”, a performance of music, dance and prose with Mario Scaccia; she also choreographed the dance scenes, taking part in it, of Rigoletto, Traviata and Trovatore as part of the Festival dei Presidi in Orbetello.
In September of the same year, she was invited to Positano to the ‘Pas de Dieux’ evening as an appendix to the award.
In 2008, she received the ‘Leonide Massine’ lifetime achievement award in Positano.
In 2009, she received the ‘La Ginestra d’oro’ and ‘Roma è… Arte’ awards.
In 2010 he received the ‘GEF’ award and the ‘Athena Parthenos’ silver plaque.
From October 2011 to July 2022, she directed the Dance School of the Rome Opera House. She is currently the Artistic Director of the DAF International Ballet School.
